Purpose
The Student Intern - Houseman plays a vital role in supporting the execution of events by assisting with the physical setup and breakdown of event spaces. This position is designed to provide hands-on experience in event operations, logistics, and venue preparation. The intern will work closely with the Event Operations Team to ensure that all event environments are properly staged, safe, and aligned with client expectations. Responsibilities include setting up furniture, equipment, signage, and decor, as well as striking and storing materials post-event. This role offers exposure to the behind-the-scenes coordination required to deliver seamless and impactful events.

Responsibilities
Event Setup
Arrange tables, chairs, staging, pipe and drape, signage, and decor according to event layouts.
Assist with AV equipment placement under supervision.
Ensure all materials are clean, functional, and safely positioned.
Event Strike Disassemble and store furniture, equipment, and decor post-event.
Return items to designated storage areas in an organized manner.
Assist with venue reset for next scheduled activity.
Team Support Collaborate with full-time operations staff and other interns to meet setup timelines.
Follow instructions and safety protocols during high-traffic or high-pressure moments.
Provide courteous assistance to clients, vendors, and guests when appropriate.
Required Qualifications Currently enrolled as a UT student with good academic standing.
Ability to lift and move heavy objects (50+ lbs) and stand for extended periods.
Willingness to work flexible hours, including early mornings, evenings, and weekends.
Preferred Qualifications Strong work ethic, punctuality, and attention to detail.
Interest in event management, hospitality, or operations preferred.
Salary Range
$15.00/hour
Working conditions In Office
Some heavy lifting may be required
May work around standard office conditions
Work Shift 20 hours per week.
Position ends 5/31/2026.
Some early mornings , evenings, and weekend work will be required.
