Brief Summary of Work for this Position
UNC’s Office of the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs is seeking a highly organized and professional Temporary Executive Assistant to support the Associate Vice Chancellor/Dean of Students. This role serves as the principal administrative liaison and “right hand” to the Dean, providing high-level personal and operational support in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage the Dean’s calendar, schedule meetings, and coordinate travel
Serve as receptionist, handling phone and walk-in inquiries with discretion and professionalism
Liaise between the Dean and internal/external stakeholders including faculty, staff, students, and community members
Prepare reports, correspondence, and presentations; maintain confidential files and records
Assist with budget tracking, HR coordination, and general office operations
Support divisional projects and committees, including the Dean’s Advisory Council
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements High school diploma or equivalency and three years of progressively responsible administrative/office management experience; or Associate’s degree in secretarial science, business administration, or a related discipline and one year of progressively responsible administrative/office management experience ; or Bachelor’s degree, preferably in business administration or a related discipline; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
A demonstrated possession of experience to perform the duties.
Requires knowledge of confidentiality regulations.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Outlook, and other administrative tools
Ability to multitask, prioritize, and exercise sound judgment under pressure
Preferred Education, Knowledge, Skills & Experience Experience in administrative support at a senior level
Experience working in Higher Education
Previous experience working with Banner, Ushop, and Emburse (previously Chrome River)
Required Certifications or Licensure Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit
