Technology Technician (Student Employment)
Position Overview
The Weld RE-5J school district is seeking a highly motivated and talented High School student to join our IT Department. This opportunity will provide valuable hands-on experience and exposure to various aspects of information technology while working in a professional environment. The CTE Technology Student Technician will assist the IT team in performing technical tasks and supporting the organization's digital infrastructure. This position demands outstanding communication skills, problem-solving abilities, and multitasking capabilities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Provides desktop support for various computer platforms; inclusive of Microsoft Windows, Apple Mac OS, Apple IOS, and the Google Suite.
Pick up and deliver equipment at District facilities.
Assist IT personnel in troubleshooting hardware and software issues, including desktops, laptops, printers, and peripherals.
Provide basic technical support to end-users via phone, email, or in-person, ensuring prompt and professional response.
Assist in the installation, configuration, and maintenance of hardware, software, and network systems.
Aid in inventory management and documentation of IT assets, including equipment and software licenses.
Assist in the setup and maintenance of audiovisual equipment for meetings and events.
Perform routine system maintenance tasks, such as backups and updates, under the guidance of the IT team.
Conduct research for new technologies and provide recommendations to improve the organization's IT infrastructure.
Assist in monitoring network performance, identifying areas of improvement, and proposing solutions.
Collaborate with the IT team to develop and update user manuals and technical documentation.
Stay up-to-date with the latest technology trends and industry best practices.
Required Skills, Experience and Abilities Currently enrolled in a high school program, preferably with a focus on information technology or related fields.
Demonstrated interest in technology, computers, and problem-solving.
Basic knowledge of computer hardware, software, and networking concepts (on the job training will be provided if needed)
Familiarity with operating systems such as Windows and Mac OS.
Knowledge of common productivity software including Microsoft Office or G Suite.
Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to think critically and find solutions.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
Ability to work well in a team and contribute to the overall department's goals.
Organizational skills and attention to detail to effectively manage tasks and meet deadlines.
Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and handling sensitive information appropriately.
Previous hands-on experience in technology-related projects or coursework is a plus
Education and Training
Preference will be given to students who have successfully completed Computer Science Foundations. Employees will need to complete the Apple Certification Training Courses (students will have the opportunity to do this on on-site). Students should be enrolled in Work-based Learning: Coding in the 2024-2025 school year.

If material is not legally protected but is of a confidential or sensitive nature, great care
shall be taken to ensure that only those with a "need to know" are allowed access to
the material.
Staff members shall handle all employee, student, and district records in
accordance with applicable district policies.
Staff members who intentionally disclose student records, other confidential student information and/or district information may be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear; stand and walk. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be occasionally exposed to outdoor weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
