TECHNICIAN: FUNDING -STUDENT TRANSPORTATION

Purpose: The Student Transportation Funding Tech's position will support the funding justification for Student Transportation requirements in compliance with federal, state and district policies, laws and regulations.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Essential Function s. An individual in this role must be able to perform the following functions with or without reasonable accommodation:
Develops appropriate accounting mechanisms to administer operational and revenue accounts. Complies with federal, state and district fiscal and program guidelines in processing fiscal expenditures. Develops tools and communicates with Directors and managers for disbursement and tracking of funds per requirement. Interprets and monitors budgetary and financial procedures and transitions in accordance with federal, state and district standards and policies. Analyzes fiscal expenditures under the guidance of Lead Budget Analyst in Transportation in relationship to state, district, department, and unit goals. Trains support staff about documentation and purchasing procedures. Tracks inventory to ensure compliance with APS requirements. Utilizes applicable software and district fiscal programs (Lawson). Maintains files, assists in report preparation, answers telephones, replies to messages, and handles routing of paperwork as needed. Ensures accuracy of APS information on the Transportation Website/Database. Communicates with schools, parents, vendors, contractors and support staff to gather needed information for the Transportation Department as required by state standards and policies. Verifies and gathers information and maintains spreadsheets. Prepares reports, maintains supply and equipment inventory. Gather information required for regulatory reports and audits. Handles internal and external telecommunications by receiving and relaying calls and answering routing inquiries. Provides substitute coverage for other personnel as needed or requested by immediate supervisor. Reviews per capita request and gets required approval for payment. Activity driver certification to drive an SUV when needed. Other duties assigned. Duties . All duties are standard language and apply to all Albuquerque Public Schools employees. Prepares and maintains accurate and complete records and reports as required by law, state directives, District policy and administrative regulations. Shares the responsibility for the supervision and care of District inventory, proper and safe use of facilities, equipment and supplies, and reports safety hazards promptly. Maintains professional relationships and works cooperatively with employees, the community and other professionals. Maintains professional competence through individual and staff training, in-service educational activities and self-selected professional growth activities. Attends and/or conducts staff meetings and participates on committees within area of responsibility. Performs other tasks related to area of responsibilities as requested or assigned by an immediate supervisor. PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND EXPERIENCE:
Preferred Knowledge, Skills & Abilities. Ability to meet deadlines, work on multiple projects and coordinate the work of others. Proficient with word processing, database and spreadsheet software. Flexibility, organization, decision-making and problem-solving skills. Effective communication skills, both verbal and written. Interpersonal skills with diverse populations in person and on the telephone. Proficient in budget and financial software and management systems. Proficient with financial and budgetary policies, procedures, and requirements of categorical expenditures. Substantial experience with grant management. Associate degree in Accounting or related field. REQUIREMENTS:
Required Education, Licenses, Certifications, & Experience. High School Diploma or GED. Knowledge and experience in bookkeeping or other accounting areas. Proficient in spreadsheet and word processing software. Knowledge of budget development and monitoring procedures.
