Closing Date: 10/20/2025 A vacancy exists for a Transition Teacher to work for the Montgomery County Intermediate Unit in the Office of Student Services ! The Transition Teacher develops an individualized program for work training and work experience in community-based work site for secondary students with disabilities.

Qualifications: Valid PA certification in Special Education (N-12 or 7-12) required Valid PA certification in Cooperative Education (7-12) preferred (candidate will need to obtain Cooperative Education certification) Professional and friendly communication skills with an ability to grow and maintain relationships Upbeat and positive demeanor with ability to represent MCIU with business leaders Must have a warm, flexible and helpful personality and be able to cope with needs and behavior patterns of children; able to withstand emotional stress Experience with students of a variety of diagnoses in community-based instruction experience Ability to act as leader within the team in order to grow student performance within the work setting Excellent organization and problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently and make work-related decisions and exercise good judgement with student interaction Must present with a professional appearance Original certificates of clearance from the State Police, Child Abuse Registry, and PDE FBI

Duties & Responsibilities: Partner with School Districts in Montgomery County Manage Site Coordinators/Job Coaches Place students in work experiences (paid/unpaid) Implement transitional goals in the work place

Lead Professional Development for Transition Staff Lead daily team meetings for staff Maintain and establish new transitional sites Work with agencies to ensure smooth transition to post-secondary employment Attend local Business Association meetings

Location: The Montgomery County Intermediate Unit is located in Norristown, PA and provides services to students in School Age K-12 and Non-Pub classrooms located throughout Montgomery County, PA. Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 7.5 hours/day, 10 months (194 days/year)

2025-2026 Salary: Bachelor's, Step 1: $52,572/year Master's, Step 1: $63,582/year *Placement on salary schedule based on experience and/or education beyond the Master's Degree.
