Student Success Advising Support Specialist-Student Employment (Workstudy Eligibility Preferred)

This position is located in the Student Success Advisor (SSA) offices on Williston and Randolph campuses. Students will serve two primary roles: public relations and marketing. The ability to connect with students in a friendly and helpful way is key to the public relations portion. This will include tabling opportunities and hosting program events. The marketing portion of the position is specific to assisting Advising to develop positive, informative, and relatable marketing of the team and the Advising resource. Some hours of the job require physical presence (tabling, postering, student engagement) and others can be done off-site (marketing piece development). These hours will be negotiated with Advising staff. Good GPA. Customer service experience. Graphic design. Ability to successfully navigate the VSC Portal and Canvas. Attention to details. Willingness to work during the busy times including mornings and lunch.
Connect students to other departments or resources as necessary (ie: Career Development, Academic Support, Student Financial Support Services, Wellness & Counseling, Residential Life, International Student Support, etc.)
Ability to communicate the offerings of Advising knowledgeably. Working knowledge of other Student Success Departments.
Ability to create marketing pieces utilizing VTSU logo, colors, brand, etc.
Work closely with the Student Support Advisors to provide assistance in project.
Assist students with general Portal, Canvas, and exploration platform.
Demonstrate inclusivity and provide excellent customer service in all modalities.
Qualifications:
• Understanding the educational goals and objectives of Vermont State University including attention to accessibility and diversity, equity, and inclusion
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, accountable and follows-through, attention to detail
• Proficiency in technologies such as Self-Service, Canvas, Microsoft products, Canva, Graphic Design software, etc.
• Ability to work effectively with a wide range of individuals within the University and capacity to work as part of a team to collaborate
• Ability to work during busy office hour times and some off-hour events
