Overview The Student Registered Nurse Anesthetist (SRNA) Employment Track is a critical recruiting pathway to support the vision of building a robust CRNA team within the University of Maryland School of Medicine. CRNAs are vital members of the Department of Anesthesiology and provide expert anesthesia care in collaboration with anesthesiologists, surgeons and other healthcare providers to deliver high-quality, holistic, evidence-based anesthesia and pain care services. CRNAs are expected to contribute to the department's educational, safety, quality and research missions. They care for patients across acuity levels and settings, including the UMMC General and Shock Trauma operating rooms and other hospital procedural areas. Opportunities to practice in obstetrics and regional anesthesia are available. CRNAs should demonstrate independent thinking, problem solving, empathy, and scientific acumen while working with departmental anesthesiologists under various medical direction/supervision models. Locations Showing 1 location UMMC - Medical Center, 22 S. Greene St., Baltimore, MD 21201, USA Responsibilities Provides pre-anesthetic preparation and patient evaluation; recommends, requests, and evaluates pertinent diagnostic studies; obtains informed consent for anesthesia. Develops and implements an individualized anesthetic plan of care, selects and initiates the planned anesthesia technique; oversees invasive line catheter/devices, prepares and administers anesthetic agents; may perform and manage regional anesthetics. Provides anesthesia induction, mechanical ventilation maintenance, emergence, and post-anesthesia care. Provides peri-anesthetic invasive and non-invasive monitoring using current standards and techniques. Manages patient’s fluid, blood, electrolyte, and acid-base balance; interprets and responds to abnormal findings with corrective action. Education and/or Experience Be a senior student, in good standing, with less than one year of education, at an accredited nurse anesthesia educational program Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Basic Life Support (BLS) by the American Heart Association National Provider Identifier (NPI) and Taxonomy code required at time of hire Total Rewards The referenced base salary range represents the low and high end of University of Maryland’s Faculty Physician’s Inc. salary range for this position. Some candidates will not be eligible for the upper end of the salary range. Exact salary will depend on multiple factors including geographic location, skills, work experience, market conditions, internal equity, responsibility factor and span of control, education/training and other qualifications.
