Overview The Student Radiology Tech Assistant is responsible for assisting the designated radiology mentor and caring for patients of all ages within the standard of care set by Parkview Health and the Indiana Department of Health, Ohio Department of Health, ARDMS or CNMT standards of care guidelines. Under the direct supervision of the designated radiology mentor, assists with preparing patients for imaging procedures (explaining the process, verifying patient identity, and providing comfort measures as needed). Assists radiology mentors with organizing imaging supplies, cleaning the room and equipment after a procedure, etc. Ensures patient safety by following radiation protection protocols and ensuring compliance with safety standards when working with radiology equipment. Recognizes emergent situations and activates assistance as needed. Assists other areas and shifts as needed. Adheres to Parkview Standards of Behavior. Education Must be a minimum of 16 years of age and interested in an imaging career. Prefer a high school graduate who is enrolled in prerequisite classes with the intent to enter a Medical Imaging program in good academic standing; or, current high school students who are enrolled in; or those who have completed a health careers occupations program of study in good academic standing. Licensure CPR Certification. Other Qualifications Must be able to lift 50 lbs., 100 lbs. shared lifting. Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills. Must be able to demonstrate a working knowledge of general computer skills and applications. Demonstrates ability to multi-task and contribute to a team effort in caring for patients.
