This role is about more than programsits about building a movement where every student finds a place to belong and is challenged to seriously pursue their next step with Jesus. We need a leader who is, first, an experienced, compelling teacher of the Gospel. Second, you must possess a high emotional intelligence (EQ) to thrive in complex environments, effectively leading and developing staff, interns, and adult volunteers. Finally, success hinges on your ability to cultivate strong relationships with parents, partnering with them to create real, lasting transformation in their students' lives. You'll own the overall ministry strategy to effectively disciple students across all environments, from weekly gatherings to global mission trips.

Job Responsibilities
1. Vision & Strategy Ownership
- Integrate and Champion the Next Gen Strategy (BE, GROW, GO). Ensure the entire Student Ministry strategy, programming, and culture fully supports the BE, GROW, GO framework, intentionally designing environments that foster Belonging (BE), challenge students to take their next steps in faith (GROW), and activate them in service and mission (GO).
- Set the Course: Provide clear, compelling vision and direction for all Student Ministry with a specific focus on scaling the High School ministry.
- Lead the Team: Directly supervise, mentor, and manage all Student Ministry staff, ensuring peak performance and spiritual alignment.
- Own the Budget: Drive the annual ministry planning and manage the entire budget process.
- Build Leaders: Design and implement robust systems to attract, attain, and retain world class talent for both student leaders and our core adult volunteer team.
- Shepherd the Flock: Provide pastoral care and guidance to students, parents, and volunteers navigating spiritual and relational challenges.
- Talent Pipeline: Run and refine the Student Ministry internship program, developing the next generation of ministry leaders.
- Be the Connector: Clearly communicate the ministry vision, events, and resources to volunteers and students, ensuring everyone is bought into the plan.
- Parent Strategy: Move beyond simple communication to proactive partnership with parents, equipping them to be the primary disciple-makers at home.
- Integrate: Collaborate with the Next Gen team and broader staff, committing to ongoing personal and professional leadership development.
- A clear, non-negotiable calling to Student Ministry.
- High-impact teaching and communication skills that command attention in both large crowds and small groups.
- Proven capacity to build and maintain relationships (we call it collaborative partnership) with parents and volunteer leaders.
- A foundation in pastoral counseling and guidance.
- The ability to build, lead, and manage diverse teams effectively.
- Demonstrated history of developing leadersboth adults and studentsfrom the ground up.
- A creative and resourceful problem-solver mentality.
- Experience in building and executing a ministry budget.
- Savviness with technology, digital tools, and social media for engagement and ministry communication.
- Active member of Pleasant Valley Baptist Church, fully aligned with our statement of faith and covenant.
- High school diploma required; a Bachelors degree is preferred.
- Significant experience leading within a multi-staff student ministry environment.
- Proven teaching/speaking track record with both students and adults.
- Demonstrated ability to recruit, train, and sustain high-caliber teams of student and adult leaders.
