Our Manufacturing Specialist Group focuses on optimizing production processes, implementing cutting-edge technologies, and driving operational excellence. We are seeking a motivated student to join our team and gain hands-on experience in a dynamic and collaborative environment. They will see all mechanical and/or electrical components/parts through the entire fabrication process.


Position Overview
As a Student Assistant in the Manufacturing Specialist Group, you will work alongside experienced professionals to support manufacturing operations, process improvement initiatives, and technology integration projects. This is an excellent opportunity to gain practical experience, develop technical skills, and contribute to impactful projects in the manufacturing sector.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assists in analyzing and improving manufacturing processes to enhance efficiency
  • Supports the implementation of manufacturing principles and methodologies
  • Collaborates with cross-functional teams to troubleshoot production challenges and identify solutions
  • Participates in the design and testing of new manufacturing tools, equipment, or systems
  • Prepares reports, presentations, and documentation for programs
  • Ensures compliance with safety standards and company policies during all activities
 

Qualifications
  • Must be currently enrolled at Utah State University
  • Must have at least one year of school remaining
  • Must be a US citizen, lawful permanent resident of the US, or other US person
  • Must have at least a high school diploma (or equivalent education and experience)
  • Must be available to work 15-20 hours per week during the school year and up to 40 hours per week in the summer
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Basic understanding of manufacturing processes and principles
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities, verbal and written
  • Self-motivated and eager to learn in a fast-paced environment
  • Consideration will be given for those with knowledge of electrical/mechanical assembly
    drawings, cable assembly drawings, and mechanical drawings for machine
    shop services
  • Must have strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Should possess a strong attention to detail analyzing large amounts of data
  • Must be able to perform assigned duties with limited oversight, once trained
  • Should possess knowledge in manufacturing processes (machine shop, printed
    wire board assembly (PWA) and cable assemblies)
