Job Title: Part-Time Staff

This position serves as the initial contact for all guests to Academic Advising. Perform receptionist duties in a cheerful, professional, and enthusiastic manner. Assist with crowd management during the months with the highest intake of students. This is a part-time position which provides front desk coverage during regular business hours Monday Thursday 8am 6pm and Friday 8am 4:30pm. Hours are afternoon/evening and may vary. Location may vary depending on the office coverage needs of the department.

Provide a warm and welcoming environment to all incoming students and guests of the Academic Advising office. Assist students, both in person and over the phone, in scheduling appointments to see their advisors. Effectively manage and triage students and redirect them to other services as needed. Proactively notify advisors of demand of services. Refer students to campus resources. Access the A-Z index on the college website as well as the Advising website for information to provide students with quick answers to frequently asked questions. Flexibility with work hours during RUSH and for sick, vacation, or other coverage is required. Other duties as assigned. Dependability and reliability are required. Ability to be flexible with work schedule. Excellent interpersonal skills (i.e.: listening skills, collaboration, negotiation). Have a cheerful disposition and enjoy working with a diverse staff and student body, both over the phone and in-person. Understand the functions of the Student Affairs offices. Have a demonstrated ability finding information on the SLCC website. Organize and prioritize multiple tasks. Ability to communicate effectively with a broad range of people with a variety of abilities and backgrounds, to maintain good working relationships across the College.

High School graduate or GED and one year of customer service work experience in an office setting. Experience working as a receptionist in higher education.
