Job Summary
Olene Walker Elementary in Granite School District is seeking a part-time Reading Intervention support staff to lead small group literacy sessions for students needing extra help. The position runs from August 2025 through May 2026, up to 20 hours per week, under the guidance of the literacy coach and assistant principal. Ideal candidates are patient, passionate about teaching, and able to support students with behavioral needs to improve reading outcomes.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities & Knowledge Skills & Abilities
Pull small groups, work with the literacy coach to get training to lead the groups, work closely with the teachers to look at students' progress, and adjust the small group according to the needs of the student.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Ability to read, write, and speak well in English, bilingual skills a plus!
Desire to work with elementary age students from diverse backgrounds and experiences.
Serve as a positive role model and mentor.
Ability to work with all groups from a variety of academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds, and with community college students, faculty, and staff, including those with disabilities.
Minimum qualifications Must have an SLCC Federal work-study award through SLCC's Financial Aid office.
Must be able to earn a Work Study award.
Must be enrolled in 6 credit hours per semester.
Must work at least 10 hours and no more than 20 hours a week during the semester
Must be comfortable talking with students, staff, and faculty.
Must have basic computer skills.
Program Associates may create their own work schedules within available hours at their school sites.
Must commit to attending an orientation and team meetings at the outset.
Must be able to leave campus and access the partner site using their preferred transportation method.
Preferred Qualifications Patience, passion, and love for teaching are mandatory.
Should be able to work with students with behavioral needs.
