Job Summary:
Student employees in the Transfer Center will provide excellent customer service and support for representatives, faculty, staff and students from partnering universities and Lansing Community College. Assist and support the Transfer Center’s front desk, facilities, and classrooms. Duties include:
• Providing direct clerical and general support to the Transfer Center Team including the Director, Operations Manager, and Transfer Specialist.
• Providing general assistance to all University Center partnering staff, students, faculty, and guests. Maintain a welcoming and professional educational environment.
• Daily office duties including email communication, answering phones, addressing various questions from students, checking voicemail, unlocking and locking classrooms, loading copiers, checking inventory, and other various office duties
• Maintaining an understanding of the classroom schedule within R25 and SCALA software systems. This includes periodically updating each system and working with the partnering universities to ensure accuracy over the systems
• Providing facilities and classroom related support including computers and audio/video equipment. Ensuring that all learning spaces are operational, clean, and functioning properly
• Assisting with the planning, execution, and participation in University Center related campus events
Regular on campus presence is expected for all LCC employment. Any flexible work schedules and/or hybrid work schedules approved by the College are subject to change based on the needs of the LCC community.
Final candidates will be subject to a criminal background check as part of the employment process.
Requirements for LCC Student Employment:
The primary purpose of student employment is to provide current LCC students the opportunity to acquire job skills and experiences during semesters in which they are attending classes as follows:
• Enrolled and actively attending the following total LCC credit hours by semester
- Fall and/or Spring Semester(s) = 6.0 credits minimum (taken over 16-week period)
- Summer Semester = 3.0 credits minimum (taken over 8-week period)
• 2.00 GPA minimum (unless it’s student's first semester of enrollment at LCC and/or granted approval to waive requirement from the Student Employment Coordinator)
• High School Diploma
Note: International students (i.e. F-1 visa holders w/ valid I-20 issued by LCC) must meet the following minimum enrollment requirements each semester, in order to maintain employment eligibility per United States Citizenship & Immigration Services (USICS):
- Fall and/or Spring Semester(s) = 12.0 credits min. (taken over 16-week period)
- Summer Semester = 3.0 credits min. (taken over 8-week period)
Preferred Qualifications:
• Some level of prior customer service experience
• Attention to Detail
