ESSENTIALJOBDUTIESANDKEYRESPONSIBILITIES 1.Edit stories for errors and style. 2.Understand and apply Associated Press style to all written works. 3.Work with co-editors as needed during production week. 4.Work with co-editors to ensure accuracy and fairness of stories. 5. Write a minimum of one story per issue.

MINIMUMQUALIFICATIONS 1. GPA of 2.0 or above. 2. Must be enrolled at JJC in at least 6 credit hours. 3.College or advanced high school experience with editing. 4.Strong grammar and writing skills. 5.A basic understanding of Associated Press Style. 6.Willingness to work at off hours during production week.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS 1. Ability to work in team environment. 2. Experience with taking photos for the Blazer. 3. English and Spanish verbal and written communication proficiency. 4. Demonstrated multicultural competence.

PHYSICALDEMANDS * Ability to cover live events. * Ability to work in normal office environment.

WORKINGCONDITIONS * Both indoor and outdoor.

Scheduled Weekly Hours: This is a student employee position that works around your class schedule. May work up to 20 hours per week during the fall and spring semesters. During summer and holiday breaks (Winter/Spring), may work up to 28 hours per week with supervisor approval.
