Summary of Job Duties:
This position is responsible for assisting of high complexity testing, and assisting with day-to-day operations. This position will also focus on improving patient outcomes by performing advanced blood banking techniques, dispensing blood and blood components, and educating students. This position will provide direct patient care by supplying the patient with appropriate blood components as determined by accurate testing to ensure the patient receives the appropriate blood components. Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications: HS Diploma/GED
Must be a current student in a Medical Laboratory Science program
Additional Information: Responsibilities: Provide direct patient care by supplying the patient with appropriate blood components
Issue blood and blood components to the floors
Understand the importance of massive trauma and to issue blood and blood components as set forth in the Massive Transfusion Protocol
Communicate effectively with the Blood Bank customers including physicians, nurses, and other UAMS staff members
Receive samples and to ensure all samples are appropriately labeled and collected properly for the Blood Bank
May perform other duties as assigned
