Job Summary
The Student Assistant will support the University Communications & Marketing as a Media Assistant on the Statesboro Campus beginning Fall 2025. Georgia Southern University's Office of Communications and Marketing is building a new student media team. We are looking for students who are interested in developing their video production and leadership skills. This media team will assist the University in creating a variety of videos for internal and external use, including campus event coverage, University promotions, special features and other video needs. These videos will be used for University social media pages, webpages and other platforms.
Responsibilities
Attend biweekly production meetings to be scheduled at a later date Develop storyboards and video concepts from initial idea to final production Filming quality b-roll footage of high-profile university events Producing content for Georgia Southern's main social media platforms Filming interviews of students, faculty and staff for video assignments Editing audio and video content through approval processes Compiling, organizing and transferring all footage Reporting to the Social Media team and other creative staff to execute concepts through to completion Use, maintain and protect University equipment Shift Specifics Up to 25 hours per week Flexible with schedule of availability Shifts available Monday - Friday, 8 AM - 5 PM Some night and weekend work may be required, along with travel between Georgia Southern's campuses, local community locations, and video shoot sites.
Required Qualifications
Educational Requirements Must be enrolled in six or more undergraduate credit hours or three or more graduate credit hours at Georgia Southern University.
Preferred Qualifications
Preferred Experience Knowledge of camera operation, audio and lighting equipment Knowledge of Adobe Premiere for video and audio editing Ability to work and communicate in a team environment, and independently to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines Storytelling skills through filming and editing
Proposed Salary
$9.50 per hour
