Job Summary
The Student Assistant will support the Eagle Dining Services as a BOH Student Kitchen Assistant on the Statesboro Campus beginning Fall 2025. The BOH Student Kitchen Assistant will work closely with the Production Chefs in the back of house kitchen, assisting with the preparation of food, including slicing fruits and vegetables, and performing general kitchen duties. This position provides a great opportunity for students to gain hands-on experience in a professional kitchen environment while learning food preparation skills.
Student employees cannot work more than 1300 hours in a 12-consecutive month period.

Responsibilities
Assist Production Chefs with preparing food items as directed, including slicing fruits and vegetables
Follow all food safety guidelines and sanitation procedures to maintain a clean and safe work environment
May have to work with meat, cleaning and disassembling
Organize and prep ingredients for use in cooking and plating
Clean, chop, and store fruits and vegetables according to kitchen procedures
Assist in the proper storage and handling of food and kitchen tools
Maintain cleanliness in work areas by washing dishes, cleaning counters, and sanitizing equipment
Follow chef's instructions for food preparation and presentation
Assist with general kitchen duties, including organizing ingredients and restocking supplies
Ensure that kitchen equipment is in working order and report any issues to supervisors
Perform additional duties as assigned by Production Chefs or Kitchen Supervisors
Shift Specifics
Minimum 15 hours, up to 25 hours per week
Flexible with schedule of availability
Shifts available Monday-Friday8:00 AM - 1:00 PM 10:00 AM - 3:00 PM 11:00 AM - 4:00 PM
Required Qualifications
Educational Requirements
Must be enrolled in six or more undergraduate credit hours at Georgia Southern University
Preferred Qualifications
Preferred Experience
Previous experience in food service or a kitchen environment
Knowledge of basic kitchen tools and food safety practices
Proposed Salary
$10.00 per hour
