Job Summary
Purpose of Position:
Student Ambassadors are a vital link between our institution and the broader student community. Student Ambassadors assist with emulating the vision and mission of Student Engagement and Belonging and Columbus State Community College on campus and beyond. Ambassadors also welcome students, lead leadership and mentorship initiatives to expand the definition of belonging, participate in micro and macro engagement programs, and introduce supportive resources to help achieve academic and personal success.
This position is open to students with or without Federal Work Study eligibility.
Duties and Responsibilities:

Key Responsibilities: Student ambassadors are asked to work on different projects/programs and work with internal sub-committees to complete various items. Some of the responsibilities may include the following:
Mentorship Coordination: Assist with developing mentorship programming and curriculum development; provide input to stakeholders on new trends or resources to consider; oversee reporting and recording of mentee and mentor experiences and needs.
Program design and facilitation: Create and facilitate monthly leadership workshops introducing Columbus State resources, new methods or ideas to consider, and outlining practices or routines for achieving personal and professional success.
Social media and Marketing: Oversees and manages social media platforms, creates a communication strategy to ensure students (current and prospective) are aware of upcoming programs, new resources, and opportunities for involvement, and engages with students to assess their navigation on campus.
Recruitment and Orientation: Collaborates with campus and community partners to engage in signature programming, such as our Week of Welcome and New Student Orientation, to help incoming and current students learn about campus resources, coordinate Campus Tours with Admissions, guide programs to join, and impart knowledge about achieving success.
Advising and Outreach: Assists with managing and supporting student clubs and organizations registered within the Student Engagement and Belonging office. Establish partnerships and cross-campus engagement, including Delaware and regional learning areas.
1. Adhere to FERPA and HIPPA regulations while maintaining the privacy and confidentiality of student records and other sensitive information.
2. Fosters and maintains a safe environment of respect and inclusion for faculty, staff, students, and community members.
3. Perform administrative and supportive tasks to assist with the success of the department and team.
4. Work a consistent, reliable schedule and exhibit regular and punctual attendance.
5. Perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of: Microsoft programming (WORD, PowerPoint, Excel), Public Speaking, Program or Event planning
Skilled in: Digital Technology, Leadership, Problem Solving, Communication (oral/written)
Ability to: Build collaborative partnerships with colleagues and customers, demonstrate personal accountability and effective work habits, be creative and open to learn new skills and methods.
Minimum/General Qualifications:
This position requires that any applicant be enrolled as a current student at Columbus State in three or more credit hours in a degree or certificate seeking program. Applicants must have received a high school diploma or a certificate of attendance from an accredited secondary school or a certificate of high school equivalence and be exempt from Ohio Revised Code Chapter 4109.
Must have reliable transportation or other means to get to work regularly.
Students enrolled as Transient, College Credit Plus, Undecided, or otherwise non-degree-seeking are not considered eligible for Student Employment.
Schedule:
TBD by the needs of department and student schedule between office hours of Monday - Friday 8 am to 5 pm.
Maximum 20 hours per week.

The program consists of brief, structured conversations between supervisor and student to reflect on and integrate what they are learning. All student employees and their functional supervisors participate in this program during Autumn and Spring semesters.
Career and Leadership Development Program (CLDP)
The program consists of paid competency-based career and leadership development activities designed by Career Services. All Tier/Level III positions are automatically enrolled in this program.
