Job Summary Under the supervision of the Assistant Director – Welcome Center or designee, the Student Advisement Specialist is responsible for serving as a primary contact for processes associated for advising, onboarding and all prospective students.

Supervisory Role Oral and written instructions are received from the Assistant Director – Welcome Center or designee. The Student Advisement Specialist may supervise support staff and student workers. Duties & Responsibilities 1. Advise and register first-time freshmen, ensuring compliance with academic requirements and institutional advisement guidelines.
2. Utilize the Banner system to access student records, verify information, and support students throughout the enrollment process. Check various pertinent screens in system to ensure accuracy for registration purposes.
3. Review DegreeWorks to confirm appropriate program placement and correct catalog year for each student.
4. Provide general information about academic programs, certificates, and enrollment options available at the college.
5. Collaborate with faculty, advising, and student services staff to communicate program details, admission requirements, financial aid, and other essential information.
6. Maintain confidentiality and security of student records in accordance with institutional policies and regulations.
7. Prepare routine, special, and ancillary reports as required.

Minimum Qualifications Experience (number of years), Knowledge and/or Abilities 1. Bachelor’s degree required.
2. Experience in higher education, preferably in student services for a higher education institution. 3. Working knowledge of computer software applications, Microsoft Office suite, Banner, DegreeWorks, QLess and CRM Recruit.
4. Demonstrated ability to deliver high-quality customer service to students and staff.
5. Excellent interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.
6. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
7. Ability to multitask priorities and adapt effectively in a fast-paced environment. Education Requirements Bachelor’s Degree Licenses and Certifications (including e.g., CPR, first aid, driver’s license, etc.) Preferred Qualifications Experience (number of years), Knowledge and/or Abilities 1. Bachelor’s degree in a related area.
2. Three- five years of experience in higher education, preferably in student services for a higher education institution at the community college level.
3. Fluent in Spanish, French or Creole language Education Requirements Bachelor’s Degree Licenses and Certifications (including e.g., CPR, first aid, driver’s license, etc.)
