SPECIALIST: STUDENT SERVICE CENTER

To facilitate resolution of conflicts between students, families, schools and District departments; to link students and families with District and community educational programs, support services and assistance to lead to student success.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Incumbent must achieve the following outcomes with or without reasonable accommodation:
Assists students and their families in resolving conflicts involving schools and District departments. Identifies, coordinates and accesses District and community services and resources for students and families to aid in student success. Provides information and maintains records regarding concerns brought to the Service Center. Establishes ongoing linkage with families, schools and community services. Provides intervention, prevention and support services for individuals, groups and families as appropriate. Assures District linkages with community services, resources and other educational institutions. Organizes, manages and maintains current information about District and community student programs. Assists in the design, development and dissemination of Student, Parent, Employee Service Center information. Maintains positive public relations with community in regard to parent and community concerns. Functions as a member of the Student, Parent, Employee Service Center team. Enters, manages and maintains records in Lawson. Attends parent and community organization meetings/functions. PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND EXPERIENCE: Effective communication skills, both verbal and written. Flexibility, organization, decision-making and problem solving skills. Interpersonal skills with diverse populations in-person and on the telephone. Effective use of conflict resolution techniques. Ability to meet deadlines, work on multiple projects and coordinate work with others. Knowledge and experience working with Lawson. Knowledge of word processing, database development and maintenance, and spreadsheets. Knowledge of local social services network and public school systems. Knowledge of the needs of youth and diverse ethnic populations. Knowledge of all laws, regulations, District policies and guidelines affecting schools and students REQUIREMENTS: High School Diploma or GED. Two years experience in an educational or customer service setting. Upon hire, must complete Customer Service training.
