Respiratory Therapy Student Technician - Respiratory Therapy - All Shifts

Our Respiratory Department has a broad scope of practice in the hospital providing inpatient and outpatient care to neonatal, pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients. Our Respiratory Therapy Techs have a unique learning opportunity to get hands-on experience before graduating. The Respiratory Tech performs appropriate clerical and patient care activities as assigned by Respiratory Therapists in accordance with hospital policies and procedures. Completion of the junior level of an accredited Respiratory Therapy program is required.
Responsibilities of the Respiratory Therapy Tech include, but are not limited to: Verifies supplies in the emergency code box according to departmental procedures.
Collects and bags dirty syringes and changes sharp containers.
Helps the hospital in its cost containment effort by efficiently using supplies and recording patient charges accurately and appropriately. Ensures appropriateness of patient charges and documentation to support procedures performed.
Stamps patient flowsheets and patient charge sheets with the patient’s name, ID number, & date.
Stocks RT supplies in storage rooms and removes all boxes from the RT area.
Chart patient data accurately and in accordance with departmental procedures.
Updates patient information board indicating the respiratory care patient’s for the oncoming shift.
Stocks patient case carts and assists respiratory staff with procedural duties, under direct supervision.
Cleans and assembles equipment and supplies in preparation for various pending admits and procedures, under direct supervision to ensure appropriateness. Delivers soiled equipment to central services with proper documentation of products, etc.
Performs cord blood gases in accordance with departmental procedures, including adherence to universal precautions.
Performs EKG in a timely manner and in accordance with the procedure; contacts appropriate physician when EKG is abnormal and posts EKG reports.
Displays a positive attitude towards the job, specific tasks, and co-workers. Accepts assigned tasks in a selfless manner, placing the needs of the department and patient above personal preference.
Performs RT tasks as delegated by RT Lead or staff RTs, in accordance with policies and procedures.
Perform other duties assigned by Department management according to policies and procedures and the mission of Woman's Hospital. Schedule:
