Job Description
The primary role of the Group Fitness Coordinator position is to support the operation, marketing, and growth of Purdue Recreation & Wellness' Group Fitness and F45 programs. Coordinators provide leadership to instructors and coaches, assist with scheduling and event planning, and ensure safe, high-quality participant experiences. The goal of this position is to give students valuable real-world experience in a fitness environment. This position should work 3+ hours per week during the current semester. Those hours may be worked in any combination, at the discretion of the direct supervisor. The coordinator position must be reliable, organized, responsible, and flexible. They must also be ambitious, detail-oriented, creative, and driven.
Prerequisite(s)
The ideal candidate will be knowledgeable in group fitness instruction.
Nationally accredited or specialty group fitness certification is required.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent and minimum of one semester of college coursework successfully completed
Must be actively enrolled at Purdue University or Purdue Global.
Previous work experience within group fitness required.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written
Flexible and dependable with a strong attention to detail
Problem solving, logic and reasoning skills

Ability to multi-task and work within deadlines

Position Responsibilities
Position Responsibilities Maintain high standard of cleanliness throughout the facility and studios.
Maintain safety and risk management standards of the department
Perform daily upkeep of supplies throughout the facility and studios.
Exhibit friendliness, diplomacy, and tact in responding to customers
Assist with class scheduling, team-teaching assignments, and instructor evaluations
Track and report weekly class attendance in Group X Home and F45 Home within three days
Handle emergency situations and prioritize responsibilities while continuing to provide the highest level of customer service
Maintain confidentiality and exhibit professional conduct when handling sensitive information
Serve and participate on committees within the division to provide feedback from a student lens
Present ideas to division senior leadership as identified
Responsible for all scheduled shifts (based on class/exam schedules for the semester)
Must attend all scheduled staff meetings to gain and/or share pertinent information
Attend and help execute special events (setup, active support, teardown.
Support the ACE Group Fitness Instructor Prep Course, including Wednesday practice session.
Serve as primary contact for instructors and coaches via GroupMe/text; respond promptly to staff communication
Assist instructors in finding substitutes; teach classes if needed to avoid cancellations
Develop and distribute promotional materials; support trainings and professional development
Act as liaison between student staff and professional staff; stay informed on program offerings
Other duties as assigned
