Summary of Position
Attend community fairs, education fairs, and other relevant events as a college representative. Cultivate and preserve professional connections with organizations and entities that may assist in communicating the educational and training opportunities the college offers. Maintain awareness of the requirements, programs, and activities at CTC . Contact current, prospective, and current students as appropriate.
Provide educational counseling/advisement to active duty, retired military, dependents and civilians on Fort Cavazos. Process civilian and VA students in the initial stage of application to CTC , issue a degree plan or certificate, and oversee updating classes for each term. Assist all students in registering for classes in all formats: Online/Distance Learning, Fort Cavazos terms and Central Campus semesters. Support soldiers in the preliminary stages with the ArmyIgnited portal and help them in registering for classes. Aid students in meeting their educational goals through updating or changing their degree plans.
Minimum Required Education
Bachelor’s Degree from a nationally, regionally or identified at the state level accredited institution of higher education required.
Minimum Required Experience
Must possess two years’ wage-earning experience in administration, educational advising/counseling or Student Services. At least two years military experience is desired.
Experience in occupational, continuing and community education programs; plus, career guidance and testing procedures/materials are also desired.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Possess general knowledge of student services’ functions on a community college level.
An understanding of occupational education programs and knowledge in evaluation and articulation work/military experience.
Experience with college registration procedures and current knowledge of Texas and CTC’s Success Initiative programs are desirable.
Must be able to use MS Word, Excel, Power Point, email, and student information system.
Effective written and verbal communication skills and interpersonal skills.
Strong attention to detail.
Ability to set priorities, meet deadlines, and multi-task.
Ability to make frequent independent judgment as it relates to the standard policies, practices, and functions of the college.
Must be capable of performing duties and responsibilities with minimum supervision.
Salary 1K/Per Salaried Pay Scale
Hours Full-time, indicate working hours - M-F , 0730-1630
