Performing Arts Center Technician (Student Employment)
Position Overview
Roosevelt High School is currently seeking a dedicated student to join our team as a PAC (Performing Arts Center) Technician. Responsibilities include the design, setup, operation, troubleshooting, and strike of AVL equipment for in-district and out-of-district events in the RHS Performing Arts Center. This position requires excellent attention to detail and extensive knowledge of audio, video, and lighting equipment. The ideal candidate will have a passion for behind-the-scenes work; a functional understanding of AVL equipment such as microphones, speakers, transmitters, receivers, amplifiers, lighting fixtures, and their associated consoles; and a willingness to deepen their understanding of best AVL practices on the job.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Set up, operate, troubleshoot, and strike AVL equipment. Collaborate with event organizers to meet their live AVL needs. Program audio and lighting cues in advance of events and performances. Communicate effectively with event organizers to meet deadlines. Understand the path of sound and lighting signals through specialized devices and their various functions. Anticipate AVL challenges and their solutions, including outages and hardware failures. Maintain an organized and efficient working environment for technicians, performers, and event organizers. Required Skills, Experience and Abilities Enthusiasm for AVL work. Proficiency in operating relevant software, including ETC Eos and the Allen & Heath mixer firmware. Proficiency in operating and maintaining varied AVL equipment, including microphones, speakers, transmitters, receivers, amplifiers, and lighting fixtures. Functional knowledge of AVL equipment, sufficient to select and set up the appropriate equipment for various events. Strong time management skills, organizational skills, and attention to detail. Ability to troubleshoot and problem solve in time-sensitive settings. Ability to work collaboratively and delegate responsibilities to team members as needed. Education and Training
Candidates must have completed two full years of coursework and be a junior or senior for the 2025-26 school year. Preference given to candidates who have completed or are enrolled in Technical Theatre (A/B), Set Design (A/B), and/or Stage Production Management (A/B).

Staff members shall handle all employee, student, and district records in accordance with applicable district policies. Staff members who intentionally disclose student records, other confidential student information and/or district information may be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination. Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear; stand and walk. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be occasionally exposed to outdoor weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
