Description
The City of Liberty is looking for YOU to join our team as a Firefighter/Paramedic. Applicants that are currently enrolled in Paramedic School are also encouraged to apply.
In this role, you will perform a wide variety of technical tasks and functions in support of fire suppression, fire prevention, education, emergency medical services, emergency rescue operations and technical/administrative tasks in support of the Fire Department. You'll play a key role in influencing and enhancing services to our citizens and truly make a difference in this community.
The Liberty Fire Department is responsible for providing both fire and emergency medical services (EMS) to citizens and area patrons. The Fire Department also conducts fire inspections of local businesses and schools within the City as well as hosting various educational fire safety programs. Our department staffs professionally trained firefighters who are either EMT or paramedic certified.
Essential Functions
Respond to emergency calls; provide appropriate services as required including emergency rescue and fire suppression; prepare reports regarding emergency incidents as assigned.
Respond to emergency medical calls; perform rescues for trapped or injured persons; assess condition of victims and administer appropriate advanced emergency medical treatment; stabilize victims and prepare for transport to medical facilities; maintain communications with hospital staff.
Participate in a variety of fire prevention operations, activities and programs including training, fire investigations, code enforcement and equipment operation and maintenance;
Participate in activities and operations in response to natural disasters, major accidents, and other emergency situations resulting in numerous victims.
Study street and major building locations within the City; study building plans and fire prevention systems in buildings in assigned district.
Proactively support department functions ensuring community's needs are being met.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities Pertinent laws that affect assigned division and department.
Operational, technical and administrative characteristics, services and activities of comprehensive fire suppression and prevention programs and emergency medical services including apparatus and equipment.
Various building construction techniques and the consequences of each type of fire suppression and prevention activities.
Maintain mental capacity which permits satisfactory performance of essential functions including decision-making, communication, teamwork and positive customer/citizen interactions and experiences.
Effectively deal with personal danger, which may include exposure to hazardous chemicals and materials, fumes and smoke, intense heat, electrical hazards, confined or high work places, dangerous animals, extremely loud noises, hazards of emergency driving, hazards associated with traffic control and working in and near traffic and natural and man-made disasters.
License or Certificate Possession of a valid, appropriate Missouri drivers license for the level of vehicles operated.
Possession of appropriate State of Missouri Firefighter Certification
Possession of appropriate State of Missouri Paramedic certification
High school diploma or equivalent
