About the Role:

The Office of Student Accessibility Coordinator plays a pivotal role in ensuring that students with disabilities receive equitable access to educational resources and campus life. This position is responsible for coordinating accommodations, facilitating communication between students and faculty, and promoting an inclusive environment that supports diverse learning needs. The Coordinator will develop and implement accessibility policies and programs that comply with legal standards and institutional goals. By collaborating with various departments, the role ensures that accessibility services are effectively integrated into the broader academic and social framework of the institution. Ultimately, this position aims to empower students with disabilities to achieve their academic and personal potential through comprehensive support and advocacy.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in education, social work, counseling, disability studies, or a related field.
  • Experience working with individuals with disabilities in an educational or support services setting.
  • Strong knowledge of disability laws and regulations, including the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with diverse populations.
  • Proficiency in managing confidential information and maintaining compliance with privacy standards.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in a related field such as higher education administration, counseling, or disability services.
  • Experience coordinating accessibility services within a higher education institution.
  • Familiarity with assistive technologies and universal design principles.
  • Training or certification related to disability services or accessibility coordination.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement training programs on accessibility and inclusion.

Responsibilities:

  • Assess and coordinate reasonable accommodations for students with disabilities in collaboration with faculty and staff.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for students seeking accessibility services, providing guidance and support throughout their academic journey.
  • Develop and deliver training sessions and informational materials to raise awareness about accessibility and inclusion among faculty, staff, and students.
  • Maintain accurate records of accommodation requests, approvals, and service delivery in compliance with privacy laws and institutional policies.
  • Collaborate with campus departments to identify and remove barriers to accessibility in academic programs, facilities, and technology.
