Purpose of Position
The Office of Talent & Innovation seeks a creative, highly motivated, and independent working individual for the position of Innovation Student Associate. The person in this position will work on key projects that will support technology commercialization initiatives across all UT Institutions, and require data gathering and manipulation, analysis, and reporting in the form of written communication, data visualizations, and slide presentations.
Essential Functions
Support Texas Venture Connect program in transition to new management platform, document processes and create user guides, track key metrics such as venture funding, organize reference materials, and join monthly meetings to capture meeting notes and follow up items Create value-add reference materials for use by university technology commercialization offices such as comparative analysis guides Assist with Technology Assessment and Marketing Services program requests and engagement tracking Development and analysis of Qualtrics surveys Collect and organize materials to be showcased on updated department website Other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
A willingness to quickly learn about the complex process of university innovation management, including research, patents, startups, licensing agreements, and success metrics Self-starter with ability to synthesize data and discern key insights Excellent attention to detail Ability to meet deadlines with minimal supervision and seek input from supervisor(s) as needed Strong interpersonal and communication skills Ability to prioritize and execute tasks depending on urgency Proven organizational skills and responsible work ethic Strong problem-solving skills and sound judgement Flexible with a high tolerance for ambiguity Ability to maintain strict confidentiality
Required Qualifications
Graduate student enrolled at a University of Texas institution Demonstrated interest in innovation, entrepreneurship, and/or technology commercialization through coursework, work experience, or extra-curricular activities Experience with Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with survey tools like Qualtrics for creating and managing surveys Familiarity with technical administration of Zoom and Microsoft Teams meeting functions
