Elementary School Aide (Student Employment)
Position Overview
The Weld RE-5J school district is seeking a highly motivated and talented High School student to join us as an elementary school student aid. This opportunity will provide valuable hands-on experience and exposure to various aspects of supporting teachers and staff in an Elementary School while working in a professional environment. The Elementary School Student Aid will assist the school staff in performing daily support tasks. This position demands outstanding communication skills, problem-solving abilities, and multitasking capabilities.
Essential Job Functions
Assists and guides students to reinforce reading, language arts, mathematics, computer instruction, and other skills
Works with students individually and in small groups to reinforce basic learning and implement assigned programs
Assists in classroom preparations and strategies for reinforcing instructional materials and skills according to individual student needs
Assists students in non-instructional areas, such as supervising the student lunch programs, bus duty, playground duty, corridor, study hall, and other related non-instructional areas
Constructs, copies and distribute and use educational materials as needed
Follows all applicable safety rules, universal precautions, procedures and regulations governing the proper manner of assistance for all students, including those with disabilities or other special needs
Additional Duties
Assist guidance, pupil services staff or building administration, as needed.
Perform any other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills, Experience and Abilities Currently enrolled in a high school program, preferably with a focus on information teaching or related fields.
Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral form
Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide, and perform arithmetic operations as needed to assist students
Ability to work with a diverse group of individuals
Ability to establish a supportive and compassionate relationship with students
Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with students, staff and others contacted in the course of work
Ability to report work orally or in writing to supervisor as required
Effective writing and verbal communication skills
Support the teacher in the classroom with behavior management
Maintain a safe and productive work environment, care for tools and equipment
Education and Training
Preference for those students who successfully completed Teacher Cadet. Students should be enrolled in Work-Based Learning: Family Consumer Science in the 2024-2025 school year.
Confidential Information Staff members shall not access, receive, transmit or retransmit material regarding
students, parents/guardians or district employees that is protected by confidentiality
laws.
If material is not legally protected but is of a confidential or sensitive nature, great care
shall be taken to ensure that only those with a "need to know" are allowed access to
the material.
Staff members shall handle all employee, student, and district records in
accordance with applicable district policies.
Staff members who intentionally disclose student records, other confidential student information and/or district information may be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear; stand and walk. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be occasionally exposed to outdoor weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
Qualifications Profile/Education/Experience Must be a current Roosevelt High School student
Must be 16 years of age or older
Have a valid Colorado Driver's License or be able to provide your own transportation
