Xavier University is formalizing a strategic enrollment plan to increase undergraduate persistence. The TRIO, Student Support Services program is a key contributor to the plan and retention initiatives. TRIO Student Support Services, a federally funded program, annually serves 160 low-income, first-generation students and students with disabilities. The program provides academic, professional, financial and personal support to help students navigate college and graduate with a bachelor’s degree. The Director leads a team of three dedicated to the holistic development of students.
Duties And Responsibilities Reports to the Assistant Vice President for Promise Student Programs.
Administer the TRIO, Student Support Services program as outlined by grant guidelines and the U.S. Department of Education.
Provide reporting and data management as required by the U.S. Department of Education and Xavier University for program recruitment, retention, and graduation.
Build and maintain relationships with students, staff, faculty and other campus officials to aid with recruitment, retention, graduation efforts and overall success of the program.
Participate in divisional meetings and facilitate departmental staff meetings.
Conduct program assessment and evaluation.
Promote a practice of ongoing evaluation, assessment and improvement.
Participate in and contribute to the divisional student success/retention related committees.
Provide comprehensive academic, professional, personal and financial counseling to students.
Monitor student progress and proactively intervene as needed.
Assess student strengths and needs and develop individualized plans as appropriate.
Develop and mentor staff.
Supervise and mentor two professional Assistant Directors (advisors) and one administrative assistant.
Support ongoing development of staff members with regular coaching and feedback.
Collaboratively define, monitor and evaluate staff performance goals.
Develop, administer and monitor budgets.
Effectively manage annual grant budget. Collaborate quarterly with accountant and grant services personnel to review expenditures, budget detail and process quarterly grant funding.
Reconcile supplemental funds and all expenditures on weekly, bi-monthly and monthly basis.
Collaborate with Financial Aid department to facilitate student financial aid allocations for students.
Serve on University wide committees for Admission, Financial Aid Student Success Committee.
