Utah Valley University is seeking a part-time Designer to support the Events team by creating engaging and effective visual communication pieces. In this role, you'll use your creativity and design expertise in Adobe Creative Suite to produce original graphics for a variety of projects, from event materials to broader campus initiatives. Guided by design principles but with room for innovation, you'll apply your judgment in composition, media, and style to deliver high-quality work that makes an impact. Summary of Responsibilities
Project Creation: Creates simple design projects from concept to completion. Develops and communicates the creative vision for projects. Attends various meetings to understand the design needs and objectives. Ensures consistency and adherence to brand identity across various design projects. Assists in the creation of basic design layouts for print and digital media. Creates basic digital graphics and images for websites and social media under supervision. Assists in the production of printed materials, such as brochures and posters.
Project Development: Reviews work with Events Manager and incorporates feedback.
Project Management: Manages several simple projects simultaneously with close supervision, ensuring deadlines are met. Limited client interaction; primarily internal communication. Monitors project progress and addresses issues or concerns that arise with Events Manager.
Participates in training sessions to enhance skills in design software, techniques, and institutional branding. Adheres to established brand guidelines. Explore emerging technologies and trends to keep designs fresh and relevant.
Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications / Licenses / Certifications
Graduation from an accredited institution with a bachelor's degree, in graphic design or a related discipline, and one year of experience in managing a portfolio of creative projects; OR any combination of education and experience totaling five years.
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities
Knowledge Knowledge of graphic design and the creative process.
Knowledge of customer service standards and procedures.
Knowledge of digital publishing applications.
Knowledge of web design applications.
Skills Skills in the use of personal computers and related software applications pertaining to graphic design.
Skills in interpersonal communication, problem-solving and decision-making.
Abilities Ability to prepare quality printed and digital promotional/communication materials.
Ability to produce professional illustrations using various mediums.
Ability to develop, maintain and archive files and records.
Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
