Berry College invites applications for the position of Dean of Students, a key leadership role within the Division of Student Affairs. Rooted in Berry's mission to educate the head, heart, and hands, the Dean of Students will serve as a catalyst for student flourishing, shaping a residential experience that is distinctive, inclusive, and deeply connected to Berry's core values and virtues. The Dean of Students will report to the Assistant Vice President for Student Affairs.
The Dean of Students will provide strategic leadership and oversight across several core areas of campus life, including:
Residential Community: Guide and support the Office of Residence Life, fostering a vibrant, safe, and supportive living-learning environment that reflects Berry's commitment to community, support, and student development. The Director of Residence Life will report to the Dean of Students.
Family and Parent Engagemen t: Lead communication and engagement efforts with families and parents, cultivating strong partnerships that support student success.
Student Orientation: Oversee the planning and implementation of new student orientation programs, ensuring a welcoming and empowering transition to Berry life.
Student Support: Serve as an active member of the Berry Care Team, providing coordinated and compassionate support to students through effective responses to challenges and crises.
Marketing and Communication: Provide leadership for Student Affairs marketing and communication strategies, promoting engagement, consistency, and storytelling that reflects the Berry experience.
Title IX: Serve as Berry's Title IX Coordinator, ensuring compliance, education, and support in alignment with federal guidelines.
The Dean of Students will be expected to serve on various institutional committees, provide support during campus-wide events, and actively engage in professional development, staying current with best practices in Student Affairs.
Requirements:
Preferred education and experience include an advanced degree in Higher Education Leadership or a related field with 5 - 7 years of progressive experience in Student Affairs, including direct Title IX experience. The ideal candidate will be a collaborative and mission-driven leader who:
