Position Summary
WashU's Division of Student Affairs seeks a data analytics professional for the position of Data Analyst. The Division of Student Affairs advances the educational mission of the university through resources and experiences outside the classroom that prepare our students for lifelong success.
The Data Analyst is a member of the Research & Analytics team charged with curating and analyzing data relevant to the student experience at Washington University. The implications of this work inform policies and drive outcomes within the Division of Student Affairs and advise University leadership more broadly to advance institutional priorities and strategic goals.
The Data Analyst should be passionate about data and translating results from analyses to real-world applications relevant to diverse audiences-ranging from those first learning about the University's programs to senior leaders charged with high level decision-making.
Curiosity, innovation, interpersonal skills, and thoughtful problem-solving will be key to success in this position.
Job Description
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
Support collection and organization of data throughout the student lifecycle. Verify the accuracy and validity of data collected and correct any errors. Assist in analyzing, interpreting, and presenting data and information.
Interpret data using statistics and predictive modeling to discover patterns and assess and investigate potentials issues with large data sets.
Compile and develop quarterly reports, dashboards, and ad hoc analyses.
Meet with campus colleagues to learn about key programs and services. Collaborate with behavioral scientists on the Research & Analytics team to determine appropriate analytic strategies to measure their impact.
Create and maintain process documentation and operation manuals.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications: Experience in a higher education setting, specifically working with current technology and systems;
Experience in database management, including knowledge of relational databases;
Experience in manipulating and analyzing large, complex data sets;
Statistical, mathematical, predictive modeling experience;
Experience with visualization/analysis software such as Power BI or Tableau.

Salary Range
$23.37 - $36.19 / Hourly
The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
