Overview Curriculum Library Student Assistant - JFL at Liberty University. This role involves working independently and professionally within the Jerry Falwell Library, supporting one or more departments as assigned. Responsibilities Demonstrate professionalism by being on time, reliable for scheduled hours, adhering to the student worker dress code, and following instructions. Communicate clearly, respond to emails promptly, answer phones, and alert the supervisor to schedule changes. Perform duties as assigned by the supervisor and library administration; adhere to Liberty University policies and represent the University exemplary. Collaborate effectively as a team member and support LU's mission. Deliver excellent customer service within the Jerry Falwell Library by answering basic directional, research, and computer/technical questions from library customers. Provide research assistance to customers locating resources using basic database, electronic books, and computer searching techniques. Assist customers with materials related to the Curriculum Library, lamination, purchasing, binding, and copying. Perform general duties such as hourly counts, directions, and maintaining a clean, clutter-free study environment. Answer the Curriculum Desk phone with accurate directions and route questions to librarians or other departments as needed. Qualifications And Credentials Education and Experience Required to be a current student in good academic standing. Federal Work Study approved preferred. Additional requirements and preferences of the relevant position: Curriculum Library Student Assistant The ability to regularly push book carts weighing up to 250 pounds is required. GPA of 3.0 or above preferred. One year of college education preferred. Previous customer service experience preferred. Second language proficiency preferred. Abilities And Competencies Essential To The Function Of The Job Communication and Comprehension Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing to convey clear information. Ability to understand, speak, and write English professionally. Public communication skills for professional representation of Liberty University to various stakeholders. Strong organizational skills. Computer and scheduling skills. Problem Solving Ability to reason, analyze information and events, and apply judgment to solve routine and complex problems. Physical and Sensory Abilities Must be able to travel to local and campus locations. May be required to sit for deskwork or type on a keyboard. Ability to hear and speak to communicate effectively. Must be able to stand, walk, and climb stairs around campus. Handle materials, reach overhead, kneel or stoop as needed. Regularly lift 10 pounds or less. Working Conditions Work Environment The environment is typically climate-controlled, well-lit, with moderate noise. May include outdoor events. Work Hours Part-time, normally 12-18 hours per week. Must be willing to work mornings and occasional special events.
