CECS Peer Career Coach (Student Temporary)

Summary
The College of Engineering and Computer Science (CECS) Career Success Hub is seeking four enthusiastic and motivated students to serve as Peer Career Coaches (PCCs) in Fall -Winter . In this role, PCCs will provide peer-to-peer career support, helping fellow students build confidence, strengthen career readiness skills, and connect with Career Success Hub resources.
PCCs will work closely with the Director of Student Engagement for Career Success to coach CECS students on co-op/internship/job searching, develop or enhance career programs and resources, and support administrative tasks. This is a paid, on-campus leadership opportunity that provides valuable professional development and applied experience.
Responsibilities*
Provide drop-in coaching and support to current students on topics related to resumes, LinkedIn profiles, interview preparation, how to use career tools and resources, and co-op/internship/job search strategies.
Act as a first point of contact for students with more complex questions and make appropriate referrals to the Director of Student Engagement for Career Success, as well as campus resources, as needed.
Plan and execute various initiatives aimed at supporting student career success. Initiatives may include career workshops, classroom visits, employer events, alumni networking, and development of new career resources.
Represent and promote the CECS Career Success Hub at events.
Participate in ongoing training, reflection, and team meetings.
Assist with projects and other administrative tasks.
Required Qualifications*
Must be a current CECS student in good academic standing
Strong interest in helping peers succeed in their career development
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Reliable, responsible, and able to work independently and as part of a team
Willingness to learn and apply career development knowledge (training provided)
Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and professionalism when working with peers
Desired Qualifications*
Preference will be given to students who have participated in one or more of the following: Completed ENGR , CECS Experiential Honors Program, CECS student organizations, campus volunteer activities, or a student-centered campus job such as orientation leader, tutor, or SI leader.
Experience conducting a successful co-op/internship search
Previous experience in coaching, mentoring, tutoring, teaching, or customer service
Work Schedule
It is expected that Peer Career Coaches will work approximately 10 hours per week. This is a two-semester commitment for Fall and Winter .
