Carnegie Mellon University’s Division of Student Affairs is searching for a part-time Personal Trainer in its recreational and fitness program primarily in the Cohon Fitness Center. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who thrives in an interesting and challenging work environment.
Your core responsibilities will include:
Motivating clients by setting goals and providing feedback, and accountability. Must also measure strengths & weaknesses of the client through fitness assessments; Assessments may also be used before or after an exercise program to measure improvement
Educate clients in other aspects of wellness, including general health and nutrition guidelines.
Instruct and lead participants in maintaining appropriate exercise techniques while evaluating the ability of participants. Ensure a safe environment.
Maintain order and cleanliness of the exercise space before, during, and after class. Demonstrates proper technique & form.
Maintain class roster and communicate effectively.

A passion for health & fitness, must have a flexible schedule and be punctual and dependable
Strong communication skills
Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED required; Bachelor’s degree preferred
0-1 teaching/instruction experience required; 2-3+ years of teaching experience preferred
Certified trainer by nationally recognized organization.
CPR, First Aid & AED are required
A combination of education and relevant experience from which comparable knowledge is demonstrated may be considered.

Sponsorship : Applicants for this position must be currently legally authorized to work for CMU in the United States. CMU will not sponsor or take over the sponsorship of an employment visa for this opportunity. Carnegie Mellon is not a qualifying employer for the STEM OPT benefit: only the 12-month OPT may be used to work at Carnegie Mellon.
