Overview The Associate Dean position is a newly created role within the College of Education. This senior level position will provide important leadership to the intellectual life of the College, including the growth and refinement of academic content and programs. The individual in the position will work closely with the Dean and the Associate Dean for Research and Administration as the College continues to become increasingly nationally recognized. Qualifications Required Qualifications: An earned doctoral degree An academic record appropriate for tenured appointment with a discipline in the College at the Associate or Full Professor rank Experience in curriculum design and approval Experience with student-facing work, including conflict resolution, grade disputes, and programming Experience with student recruitment, retention, and yield efforts Excellent interpersonal communication skills Preferred Qualifications: Understanding of current college student trends, particularly those related to recruitment and retention Familiarity with the unique challenges and situations of an urban-serving institution Experience with programming for special populations, such as high-achieving student programming and student success programming The College is unable to support visa sponsorships for this position. Responsibilities The position will be primarily internally focused with a strong emphasis on the life of students and their academic pursuits. The position will have direct oversight for the following operations. Undergraduate and graduate curriculum approval and assessment. Representation to the University’s Graduate Council. Oversight of student concerns, issues, and welfare, including retention initiatives. College specific Honors programming. Student recruitment and retention initiatives. Distribution, awarding, and monitoring of College-specific scholarship programs. Strong oversight for accreditation and program review activities in coordination with other leaders in the College.
