Overview The Assistant Director of Student Success Coaching assists in the design, implementation, and supervision of the Student Success Coach program. Success Coaches work with first-year and continuing undergraduate students to foster the development of skills, behaviors, and habits that lead to persistence and graduation.
Responsibilities Oversee the daily operations of Success Coaches, ensuring effective delivery of student support services and alignment with university-wide student success initiatives.
Collaborate with campus partners—including the Learning Commons, Undergraduate Advising, SSS - STEM, and HSI Initiatives—to deliver evidence-based, student-specific programming aimed at optimizing academic performance, preventing probation, and fostering a culture of accountability and excellence.
On-campus presence is required 3-4 days a week.
Supervise, train, and mentor Student Success Coaches, including monitoring performance, supporting ongoing professional development, and holding weekly check-ins to guide and maintain coaching consistency.
Assist in the design and assessment of coaching strategies, interventions, and workshops that promote student persistence and retention.
Collaborate with campus partners to align coaching services with academic advising, tutoring, and student support programs.
Support the Director with program planning, assessment, and communication with stakeholders.
Data-Informed Interventions: Interpret and apply results from predictive analytics (EAB Navigate, EdSights) and other assessments to identify at-risk populations and appropriate interventions; compile end-of-semester reviews and provide term-by-term improvement recommendations; prepare reports on program impact and trends for the Director and university leadership.
Collaboration, Outreach, & Other Duties: Partner with faculty, advisors, and student support units to strengthen referral processes and increase engagement with resources; contribute to university-wide retention initiatives; participate in Student Success events, workshops, and campaigns as needed.
Qualifications Required: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
2–3 years of professional experience in academic advising, coaching, or student success.
Strong interpersonal, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work with diverse student populations, including first-generation, Pell-eligible, and historically underrepresented students.
Ability to analyze student data and use it to guide interventions.
Familiarity with university systems (e.g., Banner, Slate, Navigate or similar) is preferred.

Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree in higher education, student affairs, counseling, or related field.
Experience supervising staff or student employees.
