Almost 20,000 Students 10 Campuses Competency Based Education Online Assistant Director of Student Services Description The Assistant Director of Student Services works collaboratively with the campus Student Services leader(s) to coordinate the student services department with an emphasis on advising and the new student experience at the campus Advising Responsibilities: Hire, train, and supervise a team of Student Success Advisors Provide ongoing training to advisors on program knowledge, institutional policies, and advising procedures. Deliver regular coaching and performance feedback to advisors aligned with key performance indicators and department goals. Ensure advisors conduct weekly outreach to assigned students using a proactive advising model and provide timely resources or escalate concerns as needed. Oversee the completion of the At-Risk Monitoring process and documentation of outreach efforts. Monitor completion of the New Student Orientation (NSO) and track Welcome Session attendance for new and reentry students. Ensure advisors meet weekly with students on Academic Warning or Probation to provide support and escalate issues when necessary. Ensure accurate registration by advisors and require quarterly advising sessions with students to review academic progress, cohort/degree milestones, and registration goal metrics. Enforce institutional policies and procedures as outlined in the South College Student Handbook, South College Catalog, and other official documents. Support the satisfactory academic progress (SAP) appeal process by notifying students, maintaining outcome records, and assisting with coordination where applicable. Assist with the planning and delivery of Welcome Sessions (on-campus or virtual). Serve as a student support contact for issue resolution, partnering with faculty and staff and referring students to appropriate policies, departments, or resources. Support monitoring of quarterly and annual retention data and contribute to implementing approved initiatives to improve retention. Continually seek to increase knowledge and have a solid understanding of programs, curricula, and institutional policy and procedures Actively engage in departmental assessment by reviewing relevant data and recommending improvement strategies to Student Services leadership. Assist with developing and delivering student programming and activities designed to enhance college readiness, engagement, and success. Participate in the evaluation of student programming effectiveness. Requirements Education Required: Bachelor’s degree Experience Required: 5 years’ relevant experience Preferred: 3-5 years working in a post-secondary setting
