Job Summary
The University of North Georgia is accepting applications for an Assistant Director of Student Involvement on the Oconee Campus. This role collaborates with other departments to create programs that strengthen student engagement and belonging. The Assistant Director will assist and advise student organizations, including the Nighthawks Entertainment and Student Government Association executive boards. The role also involves managing the annual Registered Student Organization (RSO) training and overseeing all physical and digital marketing for the Office of Student Involvement. Additional responsibilities include ensuring all programs are safe and inclusive, adhering to risk management and fiscal guidelines, and managing a P-Card. The position requires flexible, including evening and weekend hours, with potential local or regional overnight travel. Credit and background checks are required.
Responsibilities
Advise and support Oconee-based student governance organizations: Nighthawks Entertainment and the Student Government Association. Attend all campus-based executive and general body meetings as well as university-wide executive meetings; Meet with officers bi-weekly for personalized advising; Oversee budget allocations and purchasing; and assist in the implementation of events, training, and initiatives for both organizations. As the key contact for Registered Student Organizations (RSOs), will manage and oversee the annual registration and recognition process on the Oconee campus, which includes reviewing and approving events, marketing/advertising, and ensuring all RSOs comply with university policies, procedures, and annual training requirements. Supervises the daily operations of the Oconee student lounge, including all Student Activity Fee-funded equipment and furniture. This role involves managing student staff, maintaining a safe and welcoming environment, and coordinating with other departments to support student activities and services. Manages the preparation and submission of travel arrangements, invoices, reimbursements, and supply orders for Oconee student organizations and student involvement events. This role also involves coordinating with vendors for the purchase, service, and repair of all office equipment. Supervise Student Involvement part-time assistant who manages administrative duties under the direction of the Assistant Director of Student Involvement. Plan, implement, assess, and/or support all student involvement and leadership programs for the Oconee campus including Weeks of Welcome, Nighthawks Fest, Nighthawk Kickoff, Blue & Gold Awards, Concerts, Spirit Week, Student Conference on Leadership, Leadership Lunches, UNG Day of Service, BOLD Program, and MLK Day of Service. Represent OSI at external department events including Orientation and Nighthawk Preview. Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Must present a general student affairs philosophy that supports building a robust and inclusive set of student-focused programs and events, and an understanding of student development. Excellent customer service, relationship building, strong organizational skills, interpersonal, organizational skills, time management, problem-solving, and oral/written communication skills. Must demonstrate the ability to collaborate and communicate effectively with various campus groups including administration, faculty members, staff, and students. Ability to multitask and work as a member of a team in a leadership role.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree required This position requires being issued a P-Card as owner, will require flexible work hours as well as some evening and weekend hours as needed. In addition to background checks for all cardholders, O.C.G.A. ยง 50-5-83 requires a credit check on all employees issued a purchasing card. Additionally, credit checks must be run at the time of P-card renewal. Minimum of three (3) years of experience with student activities, event programming/planning, or student organization advisor.
Preferred Qualifications
A master's degree in College Student Personnel, Higher Education Administration, or a closely related field is strongly preferred.
Proposed Salary
The proposed salary range for this position is: $22.79-$25.07 hour.
