The Assistant Director of Student Engagement reports to the Director of Student Engagement. Assistant Director of Student Engagement Job Summary: Job Summary: Job Summary: The Assistant Director of Student Engagement works collaboratively with the SMC Experience team and all members of the Spartanburg Methodist College community to support a robust student involvement experience on campus. This position plays a supportive role on the SMC Experience team and reports directly to the Director of Student Engagement. The Assistant Director is primarily responsible for the development and implementation of a comprehensive campus recreation program, in coordination with the Director. The Assistant Director also supports the general work of the Office of Involvement, including student activities, campus traditions, and clubs and orgs. This role requires energy, attention to detail, and strong follow-through in assisting with events and activities that foster student involvement, leadership, and belonging. A significant portion of this role supports the oversight of campus recreation, including intramural sports and the fitness center, in a way that promotes wellness, participation, and community. Primarily oversee the campus recreation and intramural program, managing the fitness center, and ensuring regular campus rec/intramural programming. Help implement a comprehensive student involvement experience for all students in alignment with goals set by the Director, including weekend and evening programming. Assist with campus-wide events and campus partnerships, including Commencement and Senior-related events, by providing planning and logistical support. Help gather and organize assessment data to support continuous improvement and effective reporting of student outcomes. Serve as a visible, supportive presence across campus and at student involvement events, encouraging participation and connection. Build relationships with students and campus partners by attending events, meeting regularly with students, and supporting collaboration across departments. Supervise designated student staff and guide support of their daily work and professional development. Manage the campus Fitness Center by supporting group fitness programming, maintaining equipment, and ensuring safety and accessibility. Hire, train, and supervise student staff for the Fitness Center, Old Gym, and Intramural Sports in alignment with college policies. Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and virtual programming, and experience in effectively creating documents, reports, and presentations. Ability to interpret and apply policy and procedures established within Student Involvement. Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed and assigned.
