Responsibilities ANSEP is looking for motivated and dedicated Recitation Leaders to join our team for the academic year. Recitation Leaders facilitate weekly recitation study sessions for ANSEP students, providing crucial academic support. Recitation Leaders help ANSEP students understand course material, develop study skills, prepare for exams, and facilitate peer collaboration between students. Recitation Leaders work closely with the ANSEP Acceleration Site Director to make sure students are academically successful and meeting ANSEP program requirements.
Available Hours :
Fall semester (2025)
BIO A111 - Tuesday 10am-11am
BIO A111 - Monday between 10am-2pm (1 hour needed)
BIO A111 - Tuesday 9am-10am
BIO A111 - Tuesday 10am-11am
BIO A111 - Wednesday between 10am-2pm (1 hour needed)
BIO A111 - Thursday 9am-10am
Qualifications To excel in this role, you must be knowledgeable in BIO A111 and/or BIO A112, communicate your knowledge effectively, and adapt to various student needs. Ideal Recitation Leaders can support students learning without simply providing answers as well as form connections with students to understand their interests, learning styles, and academic support needs. Your ability to work well with others make you an ideal candidate for this position.
Minimum Qualifications Current ANSEP Acceleration Students are not eligible for this position.
Must be currently enrolled in the University of Alaska system with a minimum of six credit hours in the current semester of employment; or have been enrolled the preceding semester for six or more credit hours and demonstrate plans to enroll for six or more credit hours in the next semester for employment between semesters.
Have at least a minimum 2.5 cumulative grade point average (GPA).
Be Junior or Senior level standing at the University or have taken the equivalent credits.
To lead BIO A111/BIO A111L recitations, have passed BIO A111 and BIO A111L courses with a B or higher.
To lead BIO A112/BIO A112L recitations, have passed BIO A112 and BIO A112L courses with a B or higher.
Previous tutoring, coaching, teaching, or mentoring experience preferred.
Previous experience working with rural or Indigenous Alaska populations preferred.
Position Details This position is located on the UAA campus in Anchorage. New hires will be placed on the UA Student Salary Schedule, based on education and experience.
