The Admission Ambassador Skokie Learning Commons is a student employee stationed at the Learning Commons front desk (first floor, Skokie campus). Ambassadors serve as the first point of contact for students, faculty, staff, and community members entering the Learning Commons. They provide excellent customer service by greeting visitors, answering general questions, and directing individuals to the appropriate department or resource. Ambassadors are cross-trained to provide frontline assistance related to Admission, Enrollment, TRIO, Testing Center, Learning Center, Library, and basic technology support related to these areas.
Campus Location: Skokie
Length of Employment: Ongoing (renewable each semester based on performance and eligibility)

Hours Available: 10-20 hours per week
Schedule Flexibility: Students will be scheduled to cover Learning Commons operational hours, including evenings and occasional weekends.
Tasks, Duties and Responsibilities (TDRs) and Learning Outcomes:
- Greet all visitors and serve as the first point of contact in the Learning Commons
- Answer basic questions and route students to Admissions, TRIO, Testing Center, Learning Center, Library, and related technology
- Provide general assistance with Oakton systems (e.g., MyOakton, library website, Learning Center resources)
- Respond to phone, email, and in-person questions promptly and courteously
- Maintain a welcoming and organized front desk environment
- Assist with light administrative tasks as assigned (copying, filing, preparing materials, etc.)
- Share information about campus events, workshops, and support services
Candidate Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills and Other Abilities or KSOAs):
- Must be currently enrolled at Oakton College in at least 6 credit hours during the Fall and Spring semesters. Employment over the summer is allowed for students taking at least 1 credit class during the summer, or students continuing registration into the following Fall semester.
- Must have an overall GPA of 2.0 or higher and be in good standing at Oakton College.
- Able to stand and sit for extended periods of time and carry boxes up to 25lbs.
- Must be eligible to work in the United States.
- Demonstrated reliability and responsibility.
- Friendly, flexible, organized, courteous, and punctuality a must.
- Exceptional communication and organizational skills with strong detail orientation preferred.
- Proficiency and experience using Microsoft Office and Google technology (GSUITE) preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently.
- Some evening/weekend hours.
- Eligible to work in the United States.
- Previous leadership and student life experience preferred.
