Specific Duties
Operate as part of the Office of Student Engagement and Leadership staff and a representative of the University of La Verne.
Oversee & plan the social activities during SOAR Orientation program.
Assist with the recruitment and selection of Orientation Leaders (OWLs).
Provide training, guidance, and support to Orientation Leaders.
Assist with administrative scheduling tasks.
Assist Academic Advising with SOAR including assigning OWLs to various roles.
Assist in budget planning, preparation, and reporting.
Attend mandatory Coordinator retreat in Fall/Winter/Spring along with attend SOAR staff meetings and trainings.
Handle all email communications from the Orientation@laverne.edu email account.
Manage the social media accounts for New Student Orientation.
Implement a marketing initiative to communicate information to new students every month starting in June through August to our new incoming students.
Perform duties as assigned, help as needed with duties that emerge over the course of New Student Orientation programming. Minimum Qualifications Prospective candidates must be in good academic standing (current cumulative GPA of 2.5 or above) at the University and not on academic or social probation. Prospective candidates must meet and maintain a 2.5 semester and cumulative GPA throughout their appointment. Grade Point Averages will be verified each subsequent semester while in office.
Prospective candidates must be a traditional undergraduate student during the 2025-2026 academic year and the Fall 2026 semester.
Must be a previous Orientation Leader (rehire). Preferred Qualifications Benefits Summary Employees are eligible for the following benefits:
One hour of Paid Sick Leave for every 30 hours worked, with a maximum accrual of 24 hours of Paid Sick Leave per year and capped at 48 hours.
