Job Summary The Department of Engineering & Computer Science is currently seeking a Junior Web Developer/Webmaster responsible for front-end website management. This position requires a basic programming skill level in web programming languages like PHP, HTML5 and CSS3, and a sense of web design aesthetics, including element arrangements, and the use of design tools like Photoshop. The ideal candidate will have WordPress experience and an understanding of industry trends adequate to start. Experience with responsive and adaptive design is a plus. Position Duties Working with end-users to create new WordPress websites Maintaining existing WordPress websites, including editing content and updating themes Designing and implementing new features and functionalities with a range of plugins/tools Taking direction from Webmaster on projects with strong attention to detail and time management Ability to respond quickly to various requests from users and organize them by priority Job Category Federal Work Study Desired Qualifications Must have at least 1 Semester remaining before Graduating Good understanding of front-end technologies, including HTML5 and CSS3 Experience building user interfaces for websites and/or web applications Experience designing and developing responsive design websites with WordPress CMS Comfortable working with debugging tools like Firebug, Chrome inspector, etc Ability to understand CSS changes and their ramifications to ensure consistent style across platforms and browsers Who May Apply Students enrolled at FIU, who have been awarded Federal Work Study (FWS) as part of their Financial Aid Award package. Student must be enrolled with a minimum of six (6) credit hours in a course of study leading to a degree or a Financial Aid eligible certificate, during Fall, Spring, and Summer semesters. Upon credits decreasing, award being canceled, or graduating, FWS employment must end. Work Schedule Hours based on class schedule and department needs.
