Job Summary

The Work Study Student will support the Botanic Garden as a Garden & Events Team Member on the Statesboro Campus beginning Fall 2025. Student employees cannot work more than 1300 hours in a 12-consecutive month period.

Responsibilities

Water, weed, plant, mulch, and prune daily to keep the Garden looking it's best Use tools like rakes, shovels, blowers, weed whackers, and other gardening equipment Help build and maintain garden structures (like trellises, raised beds, etc.) Assist in designing and planting seasonal flower beds Prune trees and shrubs to maintain a tidy appearance Support the team during major plant sale events Be to go-to Garden contact during weddings, receptions, and other special events Shift Specifics 15 - 20 hours per week Flexible with schedule of availability Scheduled evening and weekend work required

Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements Must be enrolled in six or more undergraduate credit hours at Georgia Southern University. Other Required Qualifications Must be Federal Work eligible.

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred Experience Outdoor Work Heavy Equipment Basic Construction Event Management Landscaping and Gardening Light Machinery

Proposed Salary

$12.00 per hour

This is a non-exempt position paid on a biweekly basis.
