Reporting to the Assistant Director for Operations, The Hub Counselors primary role is to communicate with students, parents, caregivers, and educational personnel in and outside of the University regarding financial aid, student billing, student employment, tuition classification/residency, student records, course registration, and on-campus housing and dining services. Success in this role requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, a willingness to be flexible and strong critical thinking skills.
In working with constituents, Counselors must demonstrate strong customer service skills including efficiency, accuracy, organization, and tact. This position also works with the supervisor on office outreach and communication efforts, including participating in outreach events on and off-campus.
This full-time position is based on the CSU Fort Collins campus and offers a hybrid work model, with a mix of remote and in-office work.
In accordance with federal regulatory requirements, all finalists must be in good standing on any outstanding Federal Title IV student loans and cannot have a repayment due for a Title IV grant.
If hired for this position, your fingerprints will be submitted to the Colorado Bureau of Investigation and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Required Job Qualifications A bachelors degree and at least one year of professional work experience providing counseling and/or assistance in customer service environment. Similar experience as a student employee may be considered.
Strong written communications skills, as demonstrated by submitted application materials and the ability to interpret and explain information. Must be highly motivated, focused, and results oriented.
Experience providing excellent customer service by relaying information accurately and in a courteous, concise and approachable manner. Ability to use judgment, discretion, and decision-making skills in dealing with sensitive and confidential issues.

Preferred Job Qualifications Work experience in one or more of the functional areas of an integrated student services office, Office of Financial Aid, Student Billing, Housing and Dining Services or the Office of the Registrar.
Proficiency in multiple languages such as Spanish and American Sign Language.
Knowledge of Colorado State University including institutional and unit policies and procedures.

Counseling will occur via several modalities; in-person, email and phone.
The Hub counselors will also serve as a student service resource for general university information including providing appropriate referrals for campus resources beyond the scope of The Hub services. This training program emphasizes continuous learning to ensure counselors are well-versed in all services offered by The Hub and those provided in collaboration with partner offices.
Additionally, The Hub Counselors must stay up to date with all relevant departmental, institutional, state, and federal policies and procedures. Communicate with these teams to share insights, seek clarification on processes, and Tier 3 escalations. Percentage Of Time 10 Job Duty Category Proactive Outreach Duty/Responsibility The Hub counselors will play a crucial role in connecting with students to provide timely and accurate information about their student account and records.
This will include initiating outreach efforts to prospective and current students, providing guidance on outstanding action items, and addressing any concerns they may have.
These targeted outreach strategies are necessary to ensure that students are aware of deadlines, resources, and opportunities to support their academic success.
This role requires excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and a proactive approach to supporting student success.
