What You Will Be Doing Guiding students during the 2-Hour Learning block, helping them set goals, stay on task, and use tech tools effectively. Supporting reading habits and routines by reinforcing skills introduced by Reading Specialists. Coaching emotional regulation, resilience, and peer collaboration with consistent structure and warmth. Tracking student progress and needs, flagging issues early, and adjusting strategies in collaboration with your team. Creating a classroom culture that feels structured, playful, and personal—like summer camp with high expectations. What You Won’t Be Doing Leading whole-class lessons from a whiteboard all day. Owning literacy instruction or designing curriculum. Grading stacks of papers or writing long lesson plans. Working in a tech-absent or joyless classroom environment. Managing behavior without understanding the human underneath it. Student Success Coach Key Responsibilities Empower young learners to build the habits, confidence, and emotional resilience they need to thrive in Alpha’s fast-paced, tech-enabled learning model. Basic Requirements Must be able to work full-time and in-person at one of our campus locations: Orange County, CA or San Francisco, CA. A college degree in any field. At least 3 years of experience working with children ages 4–8 in education, afterschool, coaching, or similar environments. Demonstrated ability to motivate and manage groups of young kids with both structure and joy. Growth mindset and coachable attitude. Legally authorized to work in the US without sponsorship. Nice-to-have Requirements Training or certifications in early childhood learning models (e.g., CDA, Montessori, Reggio Emilia). Experience supporting reading instruction or working alongside literacy specialists. Familiarity with adaptive learning software or personalized education tools. The compensation level for this role is $60 USD/hour, which equates to $120,000 USD/year assuming 40 hours per week and 50 weeks per year.
