MISSION:
It is the mission of the South Carolina Department of Juvenile Justice (DJJ) to impact and transform young lives, strengthen families, and support safer communities through targeted prevention and rehabilitation.
JOB PURPOSE:
Participates with state agencies, and organizations that are involved with at-risk youth and job readiness and career development programs/services. Assist in the development of policy and procedures, and the planning, implementation, evaluation, monitoring, and revision of the aforementioned programs in accordance with legislative mandates and Agency Mission.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Under limited supervision of the Senior Manager of the Career and Opportunities Development for Educational Services Division, directs the administration of Career Readiness Center (CRC), assist with programming at the Empowerment & Enrichment Academy, Level Up sites (16).
Participates with state agencies, and organizations that are involved with at-risk youth and job readiness and career development programs/services.
Assist in the development of policy and procedures, and the planning, implementation, evaluation, monitoring, and revision of the aforementioned programs in accordance with legislative mandates and Agency Mission.
Coordinate additional services and programs to Midlands Empowerment & Enrichment Academy.
Support the Level Up sites and respond to any requests (programming/services) from the Level Up site.
Prepare CRC/Level Up monthly reports based on outcome measures and managing data for Career and Opportunities Development and Division of Educational Services and DJJ leadership.
Assists in marketing of the CRC/Level Up sites, serves as a back-up to the Career and Opportunities Senior Manager as needed.
Attends meetings.
Assist in the development of career and opportunities development programming and promotional materials, forms.
Travel as needed to promote and conduct training for the CRC and Level Up sites.
Provides statewide technical assistance, data collection and training to the Level Up sites (16), and long- and short-term facilities (45) and Division Educational Services Career Transition Teams and assist with job development services for two regions.
Performs other related job duties as requested or required.
Minimum and Additional Requirements
STATE MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
A bachelor's degree and experience in student services programs.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Knowledge of the principles and theories of student development and educational administration.
Knowledge of the techniques of individual, group and career counseling (CDF).
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
Must have the ability to work in a high-stress, high traffic/fast-paced environment; and flexibility to work some evenings and weekends.
Moderate lifting of 40 lbs. or less, long periods of sitting and working at a computer monitor.
Capable of attending overnight trainings and workshops.
This position performs job duties relating to the custody, and control, and transportation, or recapture of youth within the jurisdiction of the Department of Juvenile Justice and the employee may have direct and indirect contact with youth within the jurisdiction of the Department of Juvenile Justice. Training applicable to these duties will be provided.
