Job Summary
is seeking candidates for the position of Student Media Editorial Advisor. In this role, the Editorial Advisor will provide direction, management, and guidance to The Auburn Plainsman in its news and editorial operations across both digital and print platforms, as well as in overall newsroom functions. The advisor will also support other Student Media organizations as needed. Essential Functions Provide editorial advice and direction primarily to The Auburn Plainsman, but also to the rest of Student Media as needed
Advise The Auburn Plainsman editorial board in newsroom management and operations.
Coordinate and assist in editorial training for Student Media student staff members.
Collaborate with Communication and Journalism faculty to support student success.
Seek and oversee educational opportunities including conferences, workshops, and professional development opportunities for students in Student Media, primarily The Auburn Plainsman.
Collect and analyze data to make informed decisions regarding publication dissemination and newsroom operations for The Auburn Plainsman. Why Work at Auburn? Minimum Qualifications Minimum Qualifications Degree in Journalism, English, Mass Communications or a related field Level I: Bachelor’s degree
Level II: Bachelor’s degree plus 2 years of experience OR
Master’s degree
Level III: Bachelor’s degree plus 4 years of experience
Master’s degree plus 2 years of experience
Scope of Experience:  Experience in writing and editing communications/ publications and/or in journalism Minimum Skills, License, and Certifications Minimum Skills and Abilities Minimum Technology Skills Minimum License and Certifications Desired Qualifications Desired Qualifications Master’s degree in Journalism, English, Mass Communications, or related field.
Two or more years of experience working with a professional news organization as an editor or reporter, providing editorial oversight and/or advice and direction, newsroom management, and training of news writers.
Experience advising and training college students overseeing a student-run news publication.
