Student Life Coordinator

SUMMARY : The Student Life Coordinator- coordinates, and/or performs a wide variety of administrative and support activities for the Student Life Department. They are responsible for the day-to-day office duties of the department when assisting students and other campus stakeholders, as well as special projects and events, such as Move-in-Day. They will work directly with the Student Life team on implementing the department's strategic goals and maintaining a student-focused environment.
The Student Life Coordinator must uphold the philosophy and mission of the University while instilling positive and progressive-focused environment.
JOB REQUIREMENTS include but are not limited to the following:
COMPLIANCE: Responsible for compliance with all local, state, accreditation and federal regulations pertaining to all personnel matters. Ensure that all employees are held accountable to the company's policies and procedures and applicable laws. Ensure completeness, accuracy, and security of employee files. Direct, train and review necessary policies and procedures with employees to ensure a culture of compliance. ESSENTIAL DUTIES: Conduct all duties and responsibilities ethically and professionally. Maintain the highest ethical and professional standards in education. Conduct all duties and responsibilities to achieve a win-win situation for students and the University. Create an environment that fosters trust, provides training and development for employees, supports ethical duties, and is motivational to employees. Create, develop, and implement student activities and passive programming to increase on-campus engagement and community creation. Collaborate in the development of community and a sense of belonging and loyalty amongst residents. Develop marketing collateral for residential programming and CAU Student Life social media. Maintain in office coverage in conjunction with Student Life Team. Assist in the management or operational function for resident's hall housing office. Develop a knowledge of campus and community resources to ensure timely and efficient referrals when appropriate. Establish and maintain communication with students through individual and mass communications. Serve as first point of contact for general inquires and assistance. Receive and sort incoming mail and packages. Assist with the maintenance and administration of the residential life database Sofware. Assist with the implementation of goals and priorities as outlined in the department strategic plan, including student learning, development, as well as operating components in assigned residential halls. Assist in the implementation of in-staff training and development programs for Residential Assistant(s)(RA). Keeps inventory and coordinates office supply order with the Administration Support Coordinator. Assist with termly move-in0day, as well as yearly move-out. Assist with termly health and safety checks and random drug screening. Assist in hiring, training, and office supervision of Student Life Staff. Ensure through proper monitoring and communication that all RA employees adhere to the company's policies and procedure. Other duties as assigned.
COMPENSATION:
This position is paid an hourly wage in accordance with all state and federal labor laws and is NOT eligible for bonuses, commission, or other incentive pay as prohibited by federal law.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
Experience in customer service preferred. Associate's degree (AA) or equivalent, or six months to one-year experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Additionally, one-year experience and/or training in university programming, residence life, and education preferred. Creative and/or event planning experience preferred.
OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES:
Ability to interact in a pleasant and professional manner with all types of people. Ability to work well under pressure, manage multiple priorities, set and meet deadlines and manage unexpected situations. Strong technology skills necessary.
TRAVEL DEMANDS:
Travel to various event, conferences and/or trainings that may require overnight stays. The number of nights is dictated by company and/or by the schedule of events. The employee must have the ability to travel to various locations throughout California as necessary. Must have vehicle suitable to safe and secure transportation.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret business communications, financial reports, legal documents, and some government reports. Ability to respond to common inquiries and/or complaints from students, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to write correspondence. Ability to effectively present information to students, top management, and/or public groups. The employee may be required to transport company documents and/or company assts.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of instructions and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to converse and listen. The employee frequently is required to sit and use hands to finger a computer keyboard and handle the telephone. The employee is required to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and coordinate with others for heavier objects primarily occurring during company display setups for various events. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
